Action! from:
Muslim Public Affair Council; Civil Liberties Defense Coalition

MPAC

MPAC has been diligently working with the Civil Liberties Defense Coalition (CLDC) on a Los Angeles City Council resolution opposing the USA PATRIOT Act (USAPA). This resolution also calls upon city accountability for USAPA-related measures through monitoring and documenting the usage of the USAPA.

Los Angeles city residents:
This week it is critical that your L.A. City Council member hear from you in support of the resolution.

See http://icujp.org/speakOut.shtml#patriot for details.

How You Can Help

Please donate 1 gallon jugs of water (please do NOT purchase water from non-Unionized markets such as Trader Joe's and Smart & Final).

Bring the water from 7:30 am to 8: 30 am to the Teamster Local 630 semi-truck that will be parked on Main Street in front of the Olvera Street Kiosk. Our goal is to collect 2,000 gallons of water during that one hour –

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

"...Ward Connerly, the UC Regent appointed by Governor Pete Wilson, has introduced a dangerous, deceptive, and irresponsible initiative that he calls "The Racial Privacy Initiative," even though it has nothing to do with privacy and more to do with his political agenda.

The initiative is a radical measure that would damage our ability to address disparities by race or ethnicity in healthcare and disease patterns, educational resources and academic achievement, and hate crime and discrimination.

“The initiative is also deceptive, with a long list of confusing "exemptions" that are designed simply to provide its backers with one-line comebacks to the serious concerns experts have raised about its sweeping, irresponsible approach..."
