10:00 am
The scheduled execution of Kevin Cooper on February 10th can only stop if we get active speaking and acting on behalf of justice and the God of Love and Compassion. Please attend the Call to Conscience at 10 am at St. Monica's Catholic Church in Santa Monica. St. Monica's is Gov. Schwarzenegger's home parish and we will be making a personal appeal to conscience and faith on that day.
Join Religious Leaders from all over Los Angeles to call on the Governor to grant clemency to Kevin Cooper. No one has the right to kill, not even the state. Further, this case highlights many problems with capital cases that show the system is flawed. Therefore, we also call for a time-out on executions now.
Invited Speakers:
Rev. Jim Lawson
Bishop Gabino Zavala
Bishop John Bruno
Bishop Henry Williamson
Sr. Suzanne Jabro
Rabbi Neil Comess-Daniels
Rev. Jim Covington
Rev. Ed Bacon
Rev. Louis Chase
Rev. George Regas
Rabbi Leonard Beerman
Stephen F. Rohde
Mike Farrell and others.
Please see the website of California People of Faith Working Against the Death Penalty for an overview of the case, downloadable handouts, flyers, sample letters, sample church bulletins and information on how to get involved.
