Iraq Pledge of Resistance

an evening of information and mobilization

Westminster Chapel
Immanuel Presbyterian Church
3300 Wilshire Blvd.
Los Angeles (at Berendo St., west of Vermont)

7:00 pm

Please join us if you are interested in supporting, organizing or participating in nonviolent civil disobedience in the event of an invasion of Iraq.

The Iraq Pledge of Resistance is a campaign to build a network of nationally-coordinated, nonviolent civil disobedience to oppose President Bush's plans for war on Iraq. Following in the nonviolent tradition of Gandhi and Martin Luther King, it is modeled in part on the Pledge of Resistance that was used in the 1980s to mobilize opposition to the U.S.-sponsored wars in Nicaragua and El Salvador.

The goal is to be prepared to carry out nonviolent civil disobedience in Los Angeles sometime during the week of Martin Luther King day in January, from the 15-20. Should a wider war against Iraq begin before MLK day, a national call for CD will be activated at that time and will supercede the later dates.
